Support for an AYSA Lobbyist
Recently, AYSA and our member clubs have faced issues with the number of fields available for our programs and with cities creating rules and restrictions that make it harder and harder for AYSA and our members to obtain the necessary field space to accommodate the youth participation. I would like to hear from our constituency about whether they would be willing to entertain the idea of AYSA hiring a lobbyist and absorbing that cost.

Is it possible in this time of tight city budgets to develop some arrangement where in exchange for use of the fields, AYSA would agree to maintain the fields, provide the goals and nets, in essence a public-private partnership
ReplyDeleteCity partnerships are definitely the way to make inroads. It is what our lobbyist (perhaps better named liaison instead) should carry with him/her into meetings with municipal governments. But developing relationships long-term is key to making sure the game is able to grow.
